Helsinki Calling – Twestival Local Goes Global
On Friday afternoon someone will board a plane in Helsinki and start making their way to Brussels for the Twestival.
They’ll be carrying a Nokia N86 smartphone and recording the various stages of their journey. And why? Well Nokia are performing a relay between the different Twestival cities and will donate money for every kilometre travelled by the participants.
Now, we estimate that it’s at least 2000km from Helsinki to Brussels so that has to be good news for our fundraising efforts. We asked the pilot to take a short detour via Australia, but he saw through our cunning plan.
The handover will take place on Saturday afternoon and the phone will then head off to the Oxford Twestival which takes place on Sunday.
We’re looking for volunteers to take the phone to the UK so if you’re heading from Brussels to the UK – either London or Oxford – this weekend get in touch and we’ll hand the phone over to you to take it on the next stage of it’s adventure.
